Description
Bushwick Veterinary Center is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our privately owned small animal hospital. We are currently looking for a Medical Director / Lead Veterinarian, and we are also open to speaking with experienced Associate Veterinarians who are interested in joining a collaborative and supportive practice.
Our hospital is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, about 10 minutes from Manhattan. This is a rare opportunity to work in a truly independent veterinary practice where medical decisions are made by veterinarians rather than corporate management.
As more veterinary hospitals transition to corporate and private equity ownership, many doctors are finding themselves working under production targets, rigid protocols, and increasing administrative pressure. Our hospital has intentionally remained privately owned so veterinarians can practice thoughtful medicine without those constraints. The focus here is on patient care, strong client relationships, and a supportive professional environment.
For candidates interested in the Medical Director role, this position offers the opportunity to help guide the medical direction of the hospital, mentor other doctors, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice while maintaining an active clinical role.
We also welcome experienced Associate Veterinarians who want to practice high quality medicine in a setting that values professional autonomy, teamwork, and collaboration.
Responsibilities include practicing small animal medicine and surgery, maintaining strong medical standards within the hospital, collaborating with colleagues on case management, mentoring team members when appropriate, and contributing to a positive and professional hospital culture.
Our hospital offers an established and loyal client base, experienced technicians and support staff, and an efficient workflow that allows doctors to focus on practicing medicine. This is a workplace where professional autonomy, respect, and teamwork are valued.
This is a senior level opportunity with highly competitive compensation and strong earning potential, designed for veterinarians seeking long term professional growth in either a leadership or associate role.
Requirements

Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York
Several years of clinical experience in small animal medicine preferred

Comfortable performing routine surgeries such as spay and neuter preferred but not required
Commitment to high quality medicine and working collaboratively with a veterinary team
