Lead Specialty Nursing Teams in a 24/7 Emergency + Specialty Hospital
Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is hiring a Veterinary Technician Manager to lead and support our specialty technical teams as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. You’ll join a hospital that combines a locally rooted culture with the tools, training, and resources of Thrive’s national network.
This is a full-time, leadership role reports directly to the Hospital Administrator. You’ll work closely with the Training Coordinator and hospital leadership to oversee training, performance, scheduling, and consistency across specialty departments-and serve as the primary point of contact for specialty technical team questions and needs.
What You’ll Do
As the Specialty Veterinary Technician Manager, you will:
- Lead and maintain specialty technical teams aligned to Thrive values (Empathy, Service, Accountability, Team, Exploration, Joy)
- Schedule, interview, and conduct skill assessments for specialty technical candidates
- Build schedules that maximize coverage, minimize overtime, and support 24/7 caseload needs, including approving time off
- Set clear medical, behavioral, and performance expectations for specialty technical staff
- Oversee team performance with guidance from the Hospital Administrator to ensure quality control and consistent task completion
- Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure staff understand expectations and alignment
- Partner with the Hospital Administrator and administrative leadership to ensure consistent practices across the hospital
- Serve as the primary resource manager for specialty technical staff
- Oversee and support training in technical skills specific to specialty departments (as assigned)
- Schedule regular specialty technician meetings and ensure action items are
- Manage inventory processes: ordering, intake, invoice service codes, equipment procurement, and equipment maintenance for specialty services
- Support hospital operations through general facility oversight and first response/delegation for urgent specialty department needs
- Coordinate with the ECC Technician Manager (and/or Inventory Manager) to ensure Cubex machines are stocked and maintained
What We’re Looking For
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- RVT/LVT/CVT certification preferred/ideal
- 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, set expectations, and maintain accountability
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a 24/7 hospital environment
